Unarmed Black Man At Large, Police Warn

An unarmed black man is currently at large in Waynesboro, law enforcement is warning members of the public.

According to an alert issued from the Waynesboro Police Department, officers parked across the street from Chloe's Flower Shop on Main Street observed the man exiting the store carrying a bouquet of zinnias and two helium balloons around 3pm.

"Unfortunately, due to recent political developments, we were unable to arrest or fire upon the subject as he was unarmed and not breaking any laws," Waynesboro Police Chief Russell Fletcher remarked.

"Turns out the man had purchased the balloons and flowers, neither of which remotely resemble a firearm," Fletcher said.

Last seen walking into Mercy Hospital wearing tan slacks and a blue sweater vest, the approximately 65-year-old man should be considered unarmed and black despite his "café latte" skin tone.

"One of our officers says he's not even black, but that's Marcus, who's a baked bean shade of black himself," Fletcher said. "The guy is definitely black, and we just thought we'd put it out there."
