Conservatives Raise $15 for Anti-Gay Salad Bar

A Georgia vegetarian restaurant that has been embroiled in controversy since announcing it would no longer cater gay events raised just $15 from online supporters this week after conservatives failed to rally around the business.

Specializing in vegetarian and vegan salads, paninis and wraps, the poor haul for Salad Tossers in Powder Springs comes on the heels of a nearly 99% drop in daily revenue over the same period, co-owners Buddy Hamilton and Chip Davis report.

"We still see some of our regulars around, but mostly they just come in to tell us to 'f' off, and stuff like that," Davis said. "It's super sad."

Compared to the $845,000 GoFundMe windfall recently collected by the owners of Memories Pizza in Indiana, or the surge in conservative patronage enjoyed by Chick-fil-A after both made similar anti-gay statements, the outcome of Salad Tossers' moral stand has been disappointing, to say the least.

"I'm just so bummed, I can't even tell you," Hamilton remarked. "Some people say it was all a stunt, but it was so not."

Local conservative Mike Conger says he applauds the restaurant's sentiment, even if he won't support its business.

"I'm as opposed to gay marriage as the next guy, but I'd probably rather get a dick in my ass than eat a peppered seitan and quinoa curry bowl," he said.
