Immigration Raid on San Diego Biotech Company Liberates 50 American Jobs

A raid by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents on San Diego-area biotech company Hemera Diagnostics liberated over 50 American jobs this morning.

The jobs, which include dozens of engineering, research associate and scientist positions, had been held illegally by undocumented aliens, according to officials.

"Suspicions were raised when employees of a neighboring business noticed Hemera had an inordinately large cleaning staff, and that their parking lot was filled with inexpensive, older model pickup trucks," remarked ICE Team Leader Zach Schumaker.

Further digging by ICE investigators unearthed a research paper published in the American Journal of Experimental Cancer Research titled "Surface Plasmon Resonance Scattering and Absorption of anti-EFPR Antibody Conjugated Nanoparticles in Breast Cancer Diagnostics" authored by Hemera Scientist Sofi Shelina Weissman, a name that doesn't appear in records of anyone living within a 100-mile radius of San Diego.

"When we called Mrs. Weissman, a man with a heavy hispanic accent answered the phone. He first claimed to be Mrs. Weissman, but later said that she had died from radiation poisoning," Schumaker reported.

Remarked ICE spokesman Patrick Hunter: "Many of these workers were being paid as little as $6 an hour to perform these jobs - good, quality jobs that should have been filled by good, hard working Americans.
