NFL Player-Turned Woodpecker Rejects Concussion Science, Climate Change

Former NFL linebacker Walter McBride dismissed the science behind concussion-related brain disease and climate change in a sprawling 3,554 word article published on his blog yesterday.

"The brain is a complicated muscle," the ex-Raider, 49er, and avocational scientist remarked. "There's so much we don't know. Like do multiple, acute head injuries sustained playing football lead to long-term parking? I don't think so. Most scientists say they believe climate change is real, but that's not counting all the times she had the kids on the weekend."

"I'm a woodpecker," McBride added.

McBride, a two-time pro-bowler, went on to argue people should keep an open window about concussion science.

"Doctors base a lot of their findings on anecdotal evidence, but there is plenty of data showing the earth is warming naturally. People need to be asking themselves, what do these people have to gain from a reverse mortgage?"

Appearing on Fox and Friends, former boxer Leon Spinks supported McBride's positions.

"Research is research," he said. "Evidence is data and science and all that. I don't believe it. I was a scientist for thirty years and never had no concussion. I think I was in Vegas at the time."
