Paul Manafort Shot Dead by Atlantic City Night-Club Owner Jake Diamond

President Trump's embattled former campaign manager Paul Manafort was shot by an Atlantic City night-club owner today as he was being transported from his Trump Tower condo to a New York City-area detention center for his own safety.

Manafort, who was reportedly considering turning state's evidence after being indicted last week in Robert Mueller's investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, died at the scene.

According to witnesses, the assailant, 52 year-old Jacob Desmond, known as Jake Diamond, lunged from a cluster of reporters observing Manafort being loaded into an armored truck and shot him once at point blank range in the abdomen.

Desmond, whose floundering Brighton Avenue gentleman's club "Wings n' Tits" was allegedly mortgaged with mob money, claimed patriotic motivation for the attack.

"He shouldn't have done what he did with the Russians. Because of democracy and stuff," Desmond said.

As of press time, it has just been reported that Desmond died shortly after his arrival at a Manhattan Police Station after losing a brief battle with lung cancer.
