McDonald's to Convert Ronald McDonald House Charity to For-Profit Hotel Subsidiary

Noting the cyclical profit potential with its core business model, McDonald's announced today that it will convert its Ronald McDonald House charity to a for-profit hotel subsidiary.

McDonald's Corp. spokesman Donald Milligan said that the fast food giant's new hospitality enterprise will cater to a diverse demographic of families whose children are receiving long-term treatment in nearby hospitals, with an inclination towards style and luxury.

"Dealing with the prolonged demise of a child can be a stressful time - one that needn't be exacerbated by substandard accommodations. Which is why the Ronald McDonald House brand of hotels will aim to be synonymous with premium hospitality for those whose kids are near death," said Milligan.

Conveniently located just 5 miles from Orlando's Children's Hospital and steps from Disneyworld, the newest Ronald McDonald House in Orlando, Florida features a 9-hole golf course, swimming pool, fitness center, business center, 4-star dining, 24 hour room service, concierge and limousine services, limestone baths, Sharp LCD televisions, universal Wifi internet, Frederic Fekkai signature bath amenities, Frette bathrobes and slippers, daily newspaper delivery, and a room safe.

On Wall Street, concerns that the profitability of Ronald McDonald House Hotels would be hindered by a limited customer base were partially allayed by positive sales numbers for McDonald's "The Last Airbender" themed Happy Meals, leading to a nearly 3% increase in share price today.

"Everybody likes toys," Judith Stumpf of TheStreet.com summarized her upgrade of McDOnald's stock to "Buy" today.

Milligan indicated that, despite the switch to for-profit, Ronald McDonald House will continue to welcome private donations.
