Police: Serial Rapist "Obviously Not Too Picky"

LINCOLN, NE – Lincoln Police are urging all women living in Lancaster County to exercise extreme caution after 54 year-old Marilyn Barker was raped behind a Big Lots in Newkirk last night, the fourth victim of sexual assault in the area this month.

The rape of the middle-aged Barker, who police described as "not much to look at", has compelled authorities to warn all women in the area to be vigilant while alone in public, and not just those who are at least marginally attractive.

"This guy isn't too picky, that's for sure," remarked Lincoln Sheriff Daniel Murphy. "No woman looks her best after being raped, but some of these victims who've been through the station have definitely seen better days, and I suspect even those days weren't so hot."

A witness who saw Dehorah Smith at Bailey's Bar and Grill shortly before she became the rapist's third victim Monday corroborated the Sheriff's assessment.

"I seen her after I had six or seven beers, and no way I'd (have sex with) that (woman). Not even if I'd had ten more," the man said.

Lincoln Mayor Dennis Garvey said he hoped that photos of the four victims published in today's Lincoln Examiner will convey to female residents that being fat, ugly or old will not protect them from this particular predator.

"As frustrating as it may be for those who count not having to worry about getting raped as the one upside to being entirely lacking of any sex appeal whatsoever, I'm afraid that isn't the case here," Garvey stated.
